Earlier this month Blanchard’s had the opportunity to volunteer at Tricycle Garden’s Urban Farm in Richmond’s Manchester District. After talking about how we can reach out to our community the staff at Blanchard’s decided to get our hands dirty.
Tricycle Gardens is a nonprofit organization in Richmond Virginia with a mission to grow healthy food and healthy communities. Every project that Tricycle Gardens has engaged in has helped shape and educate thousands of neighbors and has shown that the simple act of growing food can change the overall health of our community.
I think I can speak for every one at Blanchard’s when I say that we can’t wait for our next volunteer day on the farm. We all learned a little something about urban farming, met a baby snake hiding under the okra stalks, ate green string beans right off the vine, prepared the beds for winter crops, and met the dedicated people who make it happen everyday.
