Coffee Story

The coffee growing region within the forests of Larcho Torka, Uraga, in the Guji zone are the highest altitude coffee growing areas in Ethiopia, reaching as high as 2,200 meters above sea level. The area has consistently produced high quality coffees, but for years they were transported across the nearby border into Yirgacheffe and used to increase quality of coffees from the more well-known region. Now the coffees are allowed to stand on their own unique quality and character.

Though meticulously executed, coffee from Larcho Torka undergoes fairly standard washed processing, with a brief 12 hour fermentation period following depulping, and roughly two weeks drying on raised African beds before being allowed to rest in bags to aid in balancing moisture content. The resulting coffee is tropical, fruity, floral and full of tea notes.

Brewing Notes

Fruit-forward coffees like the Larcho Torka are best brewed with filter hand pour methods like Hario V60 or Kalita Wave.
