The Monteverde estate is situated just outside of the city of Santa Ana in Northwestern El Salvador, near the Guatemalan border. The estate consists of six individual farms covering over 130 hectares of land. Farm owner, Rene Contreras produces mostly Red and Yellow Bourbon in washed, honey, and natural processed formats. Contreras is committed to sustainable agricultural practices, using a resource efficient eco-mill for washed and honey processed coffees, and collecting rain water at the highest altitudes of the estate to be piped down to the village of Monteverde, providing running water for residents.

The Natural from San Rafael grows at 1300 meters above sea level producing a clean, fruit-forward coffee with a chocolate complexity and notes of sweet red wine and rich blueberry muffin.

The San Rafael Natural Process is an exceptionally drinkable coffee no matter what brew method is used. Automatic drip coffee makers work well with this coffee, while hand pour methods like Hario V60, Chemex, and Kalita Wave will bring out even more complexity of flavor.
