Coffee Story

Located near the town of El Ocotillo in the Santa Bárbara region of Honduras, Los Primos is a young farm of about 10 hectares - its first viable production harvested only recently in 2014. This area of Honduras is recognized as one of the more exciting growing regions in the entire country, boasting more Cup of Excellence winners than any other region in Honduras in the past several years.

Manuel Vallecillo is a third generation coffee producer following a trend that is becoming ever more popular among his peers - living the majority of the year in the US with his family where he owns a trucking company, and returning to Honduras to oversee harvest for several months each year.

The coffees of this region present a fruit forward character that is unusual for Central American coffees, making coffees from this area even more desirable. Even though the farm is young, Vallecillo's Los Primos has already established itself as a prime example of these exceptional coffees, winning awards such as second place in the late harvest coffee competition.

Brewing Notes

The Honduras Finca Los Primos is an exceptionally drinkable coffee no matter what brew method is used. Automatic drip coffee makers work well with this coffee, while hand pour methods like Hario V60, Chemex, and Kalita Wave will bring out even more complexity of flavor.
