Coffee Story

Kolla Bolcha is a washing station in the Agaro region of Western Ethiopia. The region is recognized for quality coffee production, especially for the past ten years after an injection of capital and equipment investment from USAID in the early 2000's. Typical to the area, Kolla Bolcha's coffees are lush, with red fruit flavors and a heavier cola-sweetness.

As a relatively new washing station, Kolla Bolcha has maximized USAID's investment, purchasing new, modern milling equipment and fiberglass fermentation tanks to increase overall coffee quality. This, plus meticulous attention to detail produces a coffee that is stellar in the cup harvest after harvest.

Brewing Notes

This is a beautiful, delicate coffee, and is best expressed with a Hario V60 or Kalita Wave at a 1:16 ratio of coffee to water. Kolla Bolcha also performs well as a single origin straight espresso.
