This summer we received a group of Burundi samples from Collaborative Coffee Source that left us completely speechless. We managed to narrow our choices down to four coffees totaling over 40 bags. We experienced a number of delays and setbacks, which is not an uncommon occurrence for coffee leaving Burundi and certainly was not helped by a pandemic. So at long last, we are ready to introduce the Burundi Masha to our lineup.
The Masha Central Washing Station is near Gatara in Kayanza, Burundi. While no one wants to pick a favorite, the Masha scored between a half and quarter point higher than the other Burundis making it technically our favorite. It is densely flavorful - like a sangria with just enough wine to cover the fruit - and finishes with herbs and black tea.
