This summer we received a group of Burundi samples from Collaborative Coffee Source that left us completely speechless. We managed to narrow our choices down to four coffees totalling over 40 bags. We experienced a number of delays and setbacks, which is not an uncommon occurrence for coffee leaving Burundi and certainly was not helped by a pandemic. The first two were received with the enthusiasm we expected, so we are excited to reveal the second chapter.
To follow the natural process from Kibingo Washing Station, we have another natural process from Nemba Central Washing Station near Murata in Kayanza, Burundi. This coffee is exceptionally fruit forward and clean - like a cup of wedding shower punch with a dollop of sherbet floating on top. The name Murata translates to “superior” in Kirundi, and though we could never choose a favorite among this bunch, it certainly lives up to its name.
