Brewing Notes

The Yukro Washing Station is located in the Western Ethiopian region of Agaro Gera. Though established in the late 70s, the Yukro mill only began focusing on high grade specialty coffee in the past ten years with the help of the Kata Muduga Growers Cooperative. Kata Muduga and USAID has provided substantial investment in modern equipment for precise and consistent de-pulping, and Yukro matches that investment with meticulous processing techniques. Once de-pulped, parchment is set in fiberglass tanks for a 24-48 hour fermentation period under shade to remove all remaining mucilage. Once fermentation is complete, the coffee is thoroughly washed and set on raised drying beds to sun-dry.

The region, and the Yukro Mill in particular are currently producing some of the most desirable coffees in the world. This particular lot is no exception with a full, juicy body, and notes of citrus hops, red currant, and mandarine orange.


The Yukro is best brewed using hand pour methods like Hario V60, Chemex, and Kalita Wave to bring out the most complexity of flavor.
