Coffee Story
Born in San Ignacio, Eufemia Guerrero Majuan has worked with coffee since she was a child, helping her parents plant and harvest. Now, at 39, she continues the family tradition with her husband and their 5 daughters. Her farm is named Peña del Buitre, after the vultures who play an important role in the local ecosystem.
Eufemia lives close to her brothers and father who all have their own coffee farms. The labor shortages for pickers have led to her family adopting the ancient Inca technique of “Ayni” which means “I will help you today and you will help me tomorrow.” The entire extended family shares the responsibility of work on each farm, creating a mutually beneficial community effort.
This is the last of our Peruvian coffees for this year. Eufemia’s coffee stood out to us for it’s complex flavors and aftertaste, so in a way we’ve saved the best for last in a season of some of the best Peruvian coffees we’ve ever tasted.
