White Peach, Hibiscus, Lemon
Farm: Various Smallholder Farmers
Origin: Shara, Guanga, Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia
Adado, named after a local tribe of the village of Shara, in the district of Guanga, is a culmination of the product of a number mill partners serving smallholder farmers throughout the area.
Coffees from this region are highly regarded for their complexity of fruit and floral notes, especially stone fruit and citrus characteristics. The Adado is exemplary of these characteristics with intense notes of white peach and lemon, and a hibiscus floral aroma. The coffee also has a unifying vanilla characteristic that creates a silky body and pleasant sweetness.
Until early 2017, Ethiopian coffee, no matter the farm or cooperative, was required to be sold on the ECX (Ethiopia Commodity Exchange), which limited traceability to larger regions, and quality graded 1-5. In March of 2017, the Ethiopian government loosened those requirements, allowing individual mills and cooperatives to sell isolated lots, identified accordingly. This has led to greater traceability, and more quality driven purchase prices for farmers and mills.
