Founded in 1976, the Homacho Waeno Cooperative is one of the larger coffee growers cooperatives in the Sidamo region, with over 3,600 members and four washing stations. The co-op maintains a commitment to sustainable growing and harvesting practices, with emphasis on organic agricultural techniques. Over the past four decades, Homacho Waeno has brought prosperity to the region through consistent, high quality coffee production. Revenue from coffee production has led to continuing infrastructure development, including improved roads, more consistent running water and electricity, and other various types of community improvements.
In the cup, the Homacho Waeno is exemplary of high quality Ethiopian coffees off the Sidama region, with a floral, citrus aroma, and fruit forward flavors of sweet tangerine, fig, and a black tea-like finish reminiscent of the bergamot flavor of earl grey tea.
