Coffee Story
Brewing Notes

Layo Teraga is situated in Uraga, within the Oromia territory in southern Ethiopia. This area is within the Guji zone of Sidama, and is known for producing some of the best Ethiopian coffees on the market. This area’s landscape features particularly high altitudes, peaking at just over 2,300 meters above sea level — some of the highest coffee cultivation in the country.

The Layo Teraga washing station serves a collection of small, almost garden-sized farms producing coffee under the shade of dense canopy, considered “semi-forested”. Considered one of the best washing stations in the region, Layo Teraga has recently made numerous structural and process upgrades including a new de-pulping machine, freshly tiled fermentation tanks, and newly constructed storage sheds and raised drying beds.

Fruit-forward coffees like this Ethiopian are best brewed with filter hand pour methods like Hario V60 or Kalita Wave.
