Yirgacheffe, part of the Sidamo growing region of Ethiopia, is known for high quality coffee production with consistently fruit-forward coffees grown at high altitude. Ethiopia Yirgacheffe was one of the first coffees David Blanchard ever roasted, and it has been staple of our list of offerings ever since. We believe one of the best things about great coffee is that it starts great conversations, and because of its approachable complexity, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe is often one of our best conversation starters.
At the cupping table, the Blanchard's Coffee Roasting Co. team gets a pleasant floral aroma from the dry grounds and wet grounds alike. The Yirgacheffe's body is soft and delicate, but consistent. A soft, citrus sweetness prevails throughout the cupping and is reminiscent of a very ripe clementine. The finish is clean and pleasant.
This is a great coffee for just about any brew method. More delicate floral and fruit notes will pop with a hand pour like the Hario V60 or Kalita Wave, while more boisterous sweetness and body will appear when brewed with a French Press or drip coffee brewer.
