Brewing Notes

The Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm is located in the desirable Guji Zone of Ethiopia, known for producing consistently high quality coffees. The farm lies on the border of Taro and Sewana, two smaller villages in the Orogmia Region of the Shakiso district of Ethiopia.

Farm owner, Ismel Hassen oversees all aspects of operation of his family farm purchased in 2012. He holds his 25 permanent, full time staff, and 300+ seasonal workers to incredibly high standards of quality, while paying higher than normal wages and offering a number of community building incentives like transportation services and school development in an effort to promote worker retention. 

Hassen operates a coffee plant nursery on the farm to cultivate his own young plants. He is also milling and processing both washed and natural coffees and separating each distinct area of the farm by block lots to get the best possible quality from each.

The Kayon Mountain Coffee Farm's washed process is intensely juicy and complex, with an abundance of rich stone fruit flavor and body, reminiscent of fresh apricot and peach, with a delicate floral perfume of rose water.


Fruit-forward coffees like the Ethiopia Kayon Mountain are best brewed with filter hand pour methods like Hario V60 or Kalita Wave.
