Day Two: Coffee, Roads, and a Joyful End
The morning started with coffee at Pawleys Island, shared with AC and some dear friends—the kind of slow, easy morning that makes you want to linger a little longer. But the road was calling, so we packed up and headed south, cutting through the Francis Marion National Forest. The drive was stunning—moss-draped trees, golden light filtering through the branches, the kind of beauty that makes you roll down the windows and just take it all in.
In Savannah, we stopped at Perk Coffee, a shop with a Blanchard’s connection—one of our current employees used to work there. It was a joy to see their space, to meet the people behind the counter, to taste their craft. We ordered an old-fashioned inspired espresso drink—rich, complex, a little unexpected, just like Savannah itself.
From there, we hit I-95 again, pushing south to Jacksonville. By the time we reached our campsite, the day had settled into the kind of exhaustion that feels good—the tiredness that comes from a day well spent. We cooked pasta with chicken and an arugula salad, a simple but perfect meal after miles on the road.
A full day, a joyful one. And tomorrow, the road continues.
