Catalan De Las Mercedes Red Bourbon

Catalan de Las Mercedes is a farm in Chimaltenango, Guatemala, and a coffee we’ve been fortunate to build a long-standing relationship around. We’ve continued to deepen our partnership with producer Nico over the last several seasons, purchasing multiple containers each year. This season, four containers from Nico will make up more than a quarter of the coffee we purchase for the year, much of which will find its way into our blends. As we receive the bulk of our fresh green coffee for the winter and the year ahead, Catalan de Las Mercedes has become an important part of that seasonal transition.

We’ve received a range of coffees from the farm over the years, from dependable blend components to distinctive single origins. This Red Bourbon is a particular favorite for its comforting, familiar character, with notes of apple, almond, and cinnamon. It’s a balanced and approachable coffee that makes an excellent everyday drinker. Catalan de Las Mercedes is also a farm we’ve been fortunate to visit with many members of our team, making this a coffee with a meaningful connection to the people and place behind it.
