Angel Rosas Hernandez

This coffee comes to us from Angel Rosas in San Juan Ozolotepec, Oaxaca, where producers share land and processing equipment within the community. Angel has been producing coffee for more than 30 years, farming between the small plots that are typical of the region. Some producers travel more than two hours to reach their farms, making coffee production here both labor intensive and deeply tied to the local community.

Oaxaca is one of Mexico’s most diverse coffee-producing regions, with a wide range of climates, landscapes, and cultures, as well as a strong tradition of growing classic Bourbon and Typica varieties. In the southern mountains, producers also grow Pluma, a locally distinctive selection of Typica. The result is a style of coffee we especially enjoy from Oaxaca: vibrant, sweet, and balanced, with an easy-drinking character that makes for a great everyday cup.

Our partners have spent years building direct relationships with producers in Oaxaca, working at the farm level to improve quality, maintain lot separations, and create better pricing opportunities for farmers. We’re excited to bring Angel’s coffee back for another season and to continue supporting the producers and communities behind these exceptional coffees.
