El Romerillo

In the district of San José del Alto located in the northern province of Jaen, Elver Ruiz and his wife, Rosa Castillo, run their farm, El Romerillo, nestled among Catuai and Catimor coffee trees. Surrounded by guava trees for shade, along with yuca, plantains, and pineapples, their farm is a harmonious blend of crops for both commerce and family consumption. Elver’s passion for coffee runs deep, having grown up on his parents’ coffee farm, where he learned the values of hard work, honesty, and dedication. After over 30 years in the coffee industry, Elver turned to specialty coffee in 2018, aiming to provide his family with a better quality of life and fulfill his desire to craft exceptional coffee that meets consumer expectations. His farm has become a beacon for other local farmers who seek guidance in coffee cultivation and processing.

The Gesha variety from El Romerillo is subtle and elegant.  It has notes of tropical fruits and lingering florals.  The first sip starts with a clean passion fruit acidity followed by a mouthfeel like coconut cream, finishing with notes of dandelion.
