Monteverde Wush Wush

Gildardo and Milraba Guttierez have been producing coffee on Monteverde for the last 40 years. The farm was passed down to them by Gildardo’s father and today the farm is run almost completely by Gildardo, Milraba, and their three adult children.

Over the years, Blanchard’s has purchased many different rare varieties from the Guttierez family, and this year we are happy to offer a Wush Wush variety that was taken through their “Green Natural Process”.  This process is an 80 hour high temperature fermentation that involves giving the cherries a cold shower when the temperature reaches 95F in addition to agitating the cherries 2x/day to provide fresh oxygen and homogenize the fermentation. In the cup we experience some wild flavor notes starting with an acidity like a granny smith apple followed by ripe cantaloupe.
