Hateso

About The Importer:

The Coffea Arabica plant is indigenous to the mountains of southern Ethiopia. Coffee wants to grow there. They taste unlike anything else in the world. For many of us, the memory of that first cup of Ethiopian coffee still looms large in our minds. At their best, they can be life changing, transcendental experiences.

This year, we’re pleased to announce we’ve worked with Zem coffee to bring in some of the most exciting and memorable Ethiopian coffees we’ve ever tasted. Zem is the sourcing and exporting project of Zelalem, Emily, and Micheal. Over the past 10 years, they’ve been working with producers in Ethiopia to bring some of the highest quality lots from the world’s oldest, and most cryptic producing countries.

About The Coffee:

The Hateso washing station is seated deep in the heart of Southern Ethiopia’s lush Guji Zone. Here, small producers harvest their own crop and deliver ripe cherries to the washing station for a premium. Here the coffee trees grow wild on the hillsides. Oftentimes amongst other crops like mangos, or bananas. Coincidentally, these exact fruit flavors can be found in the cup. This coffee has a pronounced acidity that shimmers, bringing a liveliness to the fruit and soft florals.
