Uchoro
About The Importer:
The Coffea Arabica plant is indigenous to the mountains of southern Ethiopia. Coffee wants to grow there. They taste unlike anything else in the world. For many of us, the memory of that first cup of Ethiopian coffee still looms large in our minds. At their best, they can be life changing, transcendental experiences.
This year, we’re pleased to announce we’ve worked with Zem coffee to bring in some of the most exciting and memorable Ethiopian coffees we’ve ever tasted. Zem is the sourcing and exporting project of Zelalem, Emily, and Micheal. Over the past 10 years, they’ve been working with producers in Ethiopia to bring some of the highest quality lots from the world’s oldest, and most cryptic producing countries.
About The Coffee:
This lot from Uchoro is the collective effort of 750-800 small holder producers. With the help of donkeys, they deliver their harvest daily to the washing station to be paid out on the spot. From there the washing station sorts the cherries and lays them out to dry in the sun. Once at the desired moisture level, the cherries are milled and prepared for export.
The combination of Uchoro’s exceptional elevation, and the natural processing imparts this coffee with a distinct florality of jasmine and pear.
