Day Four: Coffee, Crawfish, and a Taste of New Orleans
The day started slow and peaceful, sitting outside the camper on a bayou in Biloxi, drinking coffee together. The kind of morning where time feels like it stretches just a little longer. But the road was waiting, so we packed up and headed to Jacked Up Coffee for New Orleans-style cold coffee—a rich, smooth start before making our way west.
In New Orleans, our first stop was Yellow Truck, where we had an incredible cup of coffee and an even better lunch. The city, with its energy and history, pulled us in immediately. We wandered the streets, soaking in the music, the colors, the atmosphere that makes New Orleans feel like nowhere else.
One of the highlights of the day was meeting up with Savannah, a friend of AC’s from cooking school in Ireland. Seeing their friendship pick up right where it left off, in a city so full of life, was a reminder of how small and connected the world can feel.
For dinner, we did it right—crawfish, messy and perfect, eaten with our hands, the way it should be. Then, as if the day hadn’t already given us enough, we found an amazing dessert spot and ended the night with gelato and lemon cream cake.
New Orleans left us wanting more. The city deserves more time—more wandering, more meals, more unexpected moments. Hopefully, we’ll be back soon.
