Bensa Segera Natural
Bensa Segera has been a mainstay in our annual lineup of Ethiopian coffees for several years. The Segera community’s main source of income is coffee with farms ranging from 0.1 hectares up to 2 hectares. The people of Segera still maintain a lot of ancient traditions such as their round housing structures that date back 10,000 years, as well as family campfire gatherings at the end of each day. The Segera producers also maintain a lot of the original indigenous Ethiopian coffee varieties that are small, dense, and bursting with vibrant flavor.
This harvest of the natural has been brighter and sweeter than previous years, having characteristics more akin to a washed coffee. The upfront aroma of this coffee is deeper like dried blueberries and dark chocolate, while the cup has the brightness of a fresh cherry, the slick mouthfeel of guava, and the lasting aftertaste of a sweet blackberry.
