Coffee Story
Brewing Notes

Finca Las Botijas is located just outside of Comayagua in Southwestern Honduras, an area known for its Spanish Colonial architecture. The farm is very small - just over one hectare - which allows farm-owner, Abel Giron, to focus on meticulous detail in harvest and processing techniques. We were introduced to Abel's coffee during a buying trip to Honduras and it was an obvious stand-out, leading us to contract the small farm's entire available production to be brought into the US for the first time.

Blanchard's Director of Operations and Green Buyer, Seth Bauserman, had this to say about the coffee:
"Abel won the 2016 and 2017 Project Origin Best of Honduras Late Harvest, and is competing in the Cup of Excellence this year. He grows only Pacamara. He has a very modest wet mill and drying beds, but does everything himself with his family by hand. We visited the farm this year after blind cupping 20 coffees; his was our favorite. We went and met him and his family and walked the property. They were very excited to meet us and very proud of their awards."

The Honduras Finca Las Botijas is an exceptionally drinkable coffee no matter what brew method is used, however hand pour methods like Hario V60, and Kalita Wave will bring out even more vibrant acidity and complexity of flavor.
