Gotiti Gedeb Natural

Gotiti Gedeb is our third release from exporting partner ZEM coffee. This lot was contributed to by 600 smallholder producers from around the small town of Gotiti. As is very common throughout Ethiopia, fresh cherry is delivered to the washing station by hand, or using donkeys. It’s an arduous task that must be repeated many times as the cherries often ripen at different times throughout the harvest. After the coffee arrives at the washing station, it’s laid out on raised beds to dry in the sun. 

This cup from the people of Gotiti is intensely floral and citric. Presenting more like a washed coffee than a natural at times. Letting this coffee cool reveals a labyrinth of sweet pomelo, tart peach, and gentle pansy. A perfect counterpoint to the cold of winter.
