La Primavera Gesha

Finca La Primavera’s gesha coffee is the second release from our recently arrived Colombian container, courtesy of our longtime pal and collaborator, Daniel Velasquez of Campesino Coffee. 

Although this is only our first time purchasing coffee from Primavera, we’ve already fallen in love with the coffee and their story. At the helm are husband and wife duo Don Oscar and Doñ Fanny. They purchased their farm all the way back in 1966, initially growing more traditional varieties like Castillo and Typica. However in 2010, with some encouragement and help from their grandchildren, they took the plunge and planted their first gesha trees, and since then, they added several other high-end varieties to their repertoire.

Oscar and Fanny’s gesha is a very subtle, perfumed cup. Floral vanilla bean greets you in the aroma, making way for light tropical fruit and soft melon character to drive the flavor and acidity, finishing with the pleasant buttery earthiness of a red bush tisane.
